Situated on one of Australia’s oldest colonial working farms, Tocal Homestead and The Barracks provides a range of tours and boutique accommodation on a unique heritage site.
Tocal Homestead is open to the public on Sundays to visitors February to November. Visitors are invited to stroll around the site and use the audio guide to learn about the highs and lows of this significant Hunter Valley property, and enjoy a Devonshire tea afterwards. Tocal Homestead is also a very charming wedding venue offering incredible views of the valley.
The Barracks consists of four suites that have been beautifully restored to provide elegant comforts in the same space where convicts and farmhands worked and toiled for over 150 years. Each suite allows guests to enjoy the same views of sweeping hillsides and colonial buildings in the company of resident farm animals.
Book a tour of Tocal Farm to learn about the farming operations of Maitland’s most extensive network with five agriculture enterprises running on 2,200 hectares of rich agriculture land.
Enjoy the annual event Peek into the Past. Held the last Sunday of July, the annual event showcases the farm and its rich heritage. Another favourite is Tocal Field Days which hosts over 300 farming exhibitors over three days.
